Service & Great Food – the Secrets of Success

Personal, understated, but always present – great service is a principle that has shaped the SPA-Hotel Jagdhof in the Stubai Valley for many decades. Germany’s Schlemmer Atlas gourmet guide has now recognised the Hubertusstube’s excellence by endowing it with the Service Team of the Year 2023 award. Plus: Chef Christian Jeske is listed among Austria’s TOP 50 chefs. These are just the latest triumphs in this year’s already impressive series of major awards for the Jagdhof.

Two of the coveted Schlemmer Atlas Awards from the renowned Busche Verlag publishing house went to the SPA-Hotel Jagdhof and its Hubertusstube restaurant this year: the service team headed by Karlheinz Jonak was awarded Service Team of the Year 2023, and new Head Chef Christian Jeske has gone straight into Austria’s TOP 50. The Schlemmer & Schlummer Atlas Awards were presented as part of Busche’s gala at the PUR Gourmet Trade Fair in Salzburg on 17 and 18 April.

Both of these awards confirm that we’re on the right track looking forward. However, they also honour the vision and drive of my grandparents and parents who established the Jagdhof as a gourmet hotspot. As a family, we’re incredibly proud and grateful to be continuing along the path they laid for us. With our great teams under the superb leadership of Chef Christian Jeske, Maître Karlheinz Jonak and Albin Mayr, our Restaurant Manager and Head Sommelier, we intend to keep following this path to the peaks of success.

The Schlemmer Atlas is a leading guide of the gourmet scene in the German-speaking world, and has been a fixture of the industry for over 45 years. 1,500 selected restaurants from Germany, Austria and South Tyrol are presented in this publication. The annual awards are based on the tried and tested Schlemmer Atlas Cooking Spoon rating system (more spoons = more kudos). The Schlemmer Atlas is particularly interested in role models, teamwork, innovation, accountability and regional reputation. The publishing house also acts as one of the largest platforms for the meeting of gastronomic and hotel industries.

In addition to the Schlemmer Atlas, this year has been a bumper gourmet and spa awards year for the SPA-Hotel Jagdhof and its Hubertusstube restaurant with great ratings from the Gault&Millau Guide 2023 (17/20), the A La Carte Restaurant Guide (86/100), the Falstaff Restaurant Guide (93/100), the Große Restaurant & Hotel Guide (4.5/5 toques for Hubertusstube) and the Falstaff Spa Guide (93/100 Readers’ Choice Award). It has also been crowned Austria’s Wellness Hotel of the Year. Pending nominations include the SPA Star Awards Germany 2023 and the Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards 2023. So, a suspenseful time ahead for the Jagdhof!
