A night of superlatives: Mount Med Resort in Austria’s Tirol dazzled at the 2025 World Luxury Awards Gala in Barcelona. During the prestigious ceremony at the InterContinental Barcelona, Mount Med Resort was recognised with multiple global accolades. Managing Director Heide Perndorfer proudly accepted the highest honour – the World Luxury Global Spa of the Year 2025 Trophy. This remarkable achievement cements Mount Med Resort’s status as one of the world’s premier destinations for medical wellness.

For the 19th edition of the World Luxury Awards – known as the ‘Oscars of the luxury travel industry’ – the global elite of the hotel, spa and restaurant world gathered on 25 and 31 October for two prestigious ceremonies. Mount Med Resort was nominated in all three major categories (Hotel, Spa, Restaurant) and impressively secured a Global Award in each.

The evening’s highlight was the announcement of the Overall Special Awards. Mount Med Resort’s Medical Spa was honoured with the coveted World Luxury Global Spa of the Year 2025 Trophy – a distinguished international accolade recognising outstanding quality, pioneering innovation and excellence in service.

By winning the title of Global Spa of the Year 2025, Mount Med Resort has firmly established itself as a leading international destination for medical wellness and longevity. Just months after opening, the resort has already made its mark in the high-end health travel sector – a place where science, prevention and excellence converge at the very highest level.

The World Luxury Awards 2025 were held on 25 October at the InterContinental Barcelona and on 31 October at the Parkroyal Collection Pickering in Singapore. Founded in 2006 by South African hotelier Brandon Lourens, the awards are among the most prestigious international accolades for excellence in the hotel, spa and gastronomy sectors.

The awards’ sophisticated evaluation process goes well beyond infrastructure and amenities, assessing each nominee’s core concept, product vision, service quality and level of innovation. Over time, the system has evolved to reflect shifting guest expectations. Today, it encompasses the World Luxury Hotel Awards (since 2006), Spa Awards (since 2010), Restaurant Awards (since 2015), and Travel Awards (since 2020). Nominations are given to hotels, restaurants, spas, travel companies and destinations that distinguish themselves through individuality, quality and authenticity. Winners are determined during a three-week global voting period, with more than 750,000 votes cast by international guests and industry experts. Trophies are presented at global, continental, regional and national levels, culminating in the Overall Winner of the Year Awards – the highlight of each gala.
